December Events Signal Suffield’s 350th Anniversary Celebration in 2020

With Suffield’s 350th Anniversary year just in reach, the planning committee has two December activities on tap to raise funds for the celebration in October 2020.

Holiday Tree Gala

This year, proceeds from the tree auction at the Holiday Tree Gala will be used for upcoming Anniversary events, programs, and projects. Community organizations, schools, businesses and individuals are invited to decorate and donate an artificial tree to be displayed during the event. An online application form to enter a tree is available at

The Holiday Tree Gala will be held in the barn at the Phelps-Hatheway House, 55 S Main Street. A preview and reception will be hosted on Thursday, December 5th.  The Tree Gala will be free to the public from 1 to 4pm on: Saturday, December 7; Sunday, December 8; Wednesday, December 11; Saturday, December 14; and Sunday, December 15.

 Suffield Doors Project

To celebrate the welcoming spirit of local homes and barns year round, photographers are invited to participate in the Doors of Suffield and Doors of West Suffield photo contests. Now is the time to capture the beauty of winter thresholds.

The 350th committee will select images for possible use in posters and cards that will be sold in 2020 as a fundraiser to support the Anniversary Celebration. The chosen photos will be required to have the expressed permission of the photographer and property owner. If a  photo is selected, the entrant will receive their choice of a poster or a package of cards.

Photos of a Suffield or West Suffield door may be entered in one of three ways.
