Somers Village Players will stage Steel Magnolias for their fall dinner theatre production. This popular play by Robert Harling was also done by the Players at their Aya Po dinner theatre in 1991, and the current production will have one returning cast member. Lee Ann Madersky, who previously played M’Lynn will appear as Clairee Belcher, the Grand dame widow of the former mayor, this time around. Lee Ann is with Power Specialist Associates, Inc. of Somers and lives in Union.
Other cast members are Chistine Zdebski as Annelle, young beauty shop assistant; Jami Wilson as Truvy, show owner and confidant; Emily Smith as Shelby, prettiest girl in town; Carol Cisek as M’Lynn, Shelby’s socialite mother; and Sunny Kirkham-Barbour as Ouiser, acerbic but lovable neighbor. Cast members come from several area towns and have a wide variety of theatre experience. Jeffrey Flood is directing and also has theatre credits as a designer and playwright in Enfield, Suffield, and MA. Dorrie Mitchell will stage manage and Justin Martin is producing for SVP.
Production dates are Sept. 27-28, and Oct. 5-6, 11-12 at Joanna’ Banquet Hall in Somersville. The Oct 6th show is a matinee. Tickets will go on sale in late August and reservations are required. A buffet roast beef dinner in included in the $40 price.
