Women’s club has good read on what benefits children

On May 31, the Somers Women’s Club delivered 500 gently used books to the Ellington Center School. These books were made available through the Somers Women’s Club’s Bountiful Book Program.

The club receives books from individual donations and from the Somers Congregational Church Tag Sale and The Friends of the Somers Library Book Sale.

Between Jan. 1, and May 31, the club delivered 2,000 books to schools in Stafford, Enfield and Ellington.Robin Kline, the K-8 language and arts coordinator for the Ellington schools, said that the books will be used for their summer reading program.

The children will be able to have their very own books and to take them home, she said. The Bountiful Book Program is ongoing
