BSTAFFORD — The Board of Selectmen is seeking a $13,299,058 budget for the 2019-20 fiscal year. The proposed budget is a 2.63 percent budget hike of $340,973 over the current spending plan. The budget proposal includes $10,438,019, an increase of $222,852 or 2.18 percent for general government; $2,288,850, an increase of $88,040 or 4 percent for debt service; and $572,189, an increase of $30,080 or 5.55 percent for the Stafford Public Library.
The board unanimously approved its budget request during its March 19 meeting. The first public hearing on the budget was scheduled for March 27, after the North Central News went to press. The Board of Education is seeking a $28,330,602.09 budget. That budget would be an increase of $431,946.70 or 1.55 percent.
